Pinterest, one of the most popular social networking platforms, has announced it is acquiring video creation app Vochi. The acquisition is designed to give hundreds-of-millions of Pinterest users around the world access to better tools for creating, editing, and promoting high-quality video content.

“Our vision is to create a place where Pinners can go from inspiration to realization, and having more creator tools can help us further this vision,” said Bin Liu, Head of Creators Engineering at Pinterest. “We’re excited to work with Vochi’s talented team to bring more video creation tools and quality content to our more than 400 million Pinners around the world.”

The Vochi app is designed to be a free and easy to use video editing tool that can be used by people of any skill level. Its platform requires no prior knowledge or experience using professional editing features to create engaging content. Built with powerful AI features, the application helps users easily employ various smart-effects for creating pro-quality video content.

Since the Belarus-based startup company was founded in 2019, it has grown into one of the top online video editing apps. The platform has previously been featured as “App of the Day” in Apple’s App Store in 126 countries.

As video content continues to cement itself into everyday life, the move allows Pinterest to expand its creator capabilities for users. Research suggests that in 2020, 83.3 percent of internet users in the United States accessed video content on a digital device, making it one of the most popular content consumption methods.

“Our ambition is to provide creators with a powerful tool that helps them make outstanding videos much faster, saving them time and energy for more creation and inspiration,” said Anna Buglakova, CPO & Co-founder at Vochi.
